A gentle medicine that supports the body's own way of healing
Homeopathy is a complete system of medicine which assists the natural tendency of the body to heal itself. I treat each person as an individual, taking your whole life and story into account — in person in South Cheshire, or online across the UK, Europe and further afield.

The idea behind it
Treating the person, not just the illness
Homeopathy is based on the Law of Similars — a substance that would cause certain symptoms in a healthy person can, prepared in a homeopathic way, help to clear those same symptoms in someone who is unwell.
It is a holistic system that works on the connections between mind and body by supporting what homeopaths call the vital force. Because everyone experiences illness differently, clients are treated as individuals, and every aspect of your life is taken into consideration during the consultation.
Remedies are made from the plant, mineral and animal kingdoms and prepared so that they become dynamic. This enables them to treat the vital force. Like other alternative therapies, homeopathy is a form of energy medicine, different from conventional treatment — though it can sometimes help to work alongside it too.
A particular interest in
Areas I'm often asked to help with
Children's ailments
Eczema, recurrent coughs and colds, and the common ailments of childhood.
Pregnancy & babies
Support through pregnancy, labour and the early months with a new baby.
Women's health
Hormonal disturbances and the changes women meet at different life stages.
Stress & burn-out
Work stress, exhaustion and the mid-life crossroads where change feels stuck.
Homeopathy works well with all "functional" health problems — those times when there's no clear diagnosis, but a feeling of unwellness remains.

About me
Hello, I'm Helen Whalley
A registered homeopath of over thirty years, working from my home in South Cheshire and online across the UK, Europe.
My interest in the nature of health and disease began with my degree in Human Sciences at Sussex University in 1988. Whilst studying Health Psychology I became fascinated by the links between the mind and the body in health and illness.
I went on to train for five years at the North West College of Homeopathy, and have been a registered homeopath for over thirty years. I ran homeopathy clinics in South Manchester and Knutsford until I started a family in 2003. Since then I have worked from my home in South Cheshire.
I believe deeply that people heal best when they feel truly heard. A homeopathic consultation is unhurried and confidential — a space to tell your whole story, not just a list of symptoms.

From my own records
A snapshot of my practice
In an audit of clients I saw between 1999 and 2003, I supported 47 children and 164 adults. Among the children, 15 had eczema and 15 had common childhood ailments. Among the adults, common reasons for coming to see me included:

Yoga: movement, breath and the whole person
Yoga sits naturally alongside my homeopathy — both are ways of tending to the whole person rather than a single symptom.

If any of this resonates, I'd love to hear from you. The first step is simply a conversation.
Treatment
What homeopathic treatment is really like
Gentle, gradual and led by you — here's what to expect from working together.
Health problems and life crisis points are seen by homeopaths in a positive light — as invitations for personal development and change. The difficulty is that we don't always have the tools to meet life's problems positively. The vital flow of our life can feel blocked by illness and by an emotional resistance to change, and that adds to our difficulties.
A homeopathic consultation can help to identify where those blockages are, and the remedies then help to gently remove them. When the whole system is more relaxed, the natural healing energy — the vital force — can flow more easily and reach a better level of health.
The journey
How treatment unfolds
The consultation
An unhurried, confidential space where you tell your whole story and we look at every aspect of your life together.
Your remedy
Remedies are given in tablet form — often just one tablet a month, because that is all that's needed to stimulate the vital force.
Gradual change
Treatment progresses over months, sometimes years. A feeling of well-being, or old symptoms briefly reappearing, are signs it's underway.
A few tablets, a slow unfolding
Treatment progresses slowly over a period of a few months, and in some cases years. Eventually a new level of health and awareness is reached — and it's at that point you can look back and see how far you have come, and the development that has taken place.
The remedies are given in tablet form. Quite often only one tablet a month is given, because that is all that is required to stimulate the vital force. Sometimes this is followed by a feeling of well-being. Symptoms from the past may briefly reappear and other changes can take place — all of which are signs that treatment is underway.
Long-standing health problems will take longer to heal than minor ones. Acute problems such as colds, flu and first aid respond more quickly, and advice can often be given about these over the telephone. Any extra lifestyle or dietary advice can also be given as part of the consultation, and nutritional or herbal support is often recommended to help the healing process.

Testimonials
In my clients' own words
A few words from the people I've had the privilege to work with.
These are the personal opinions of clients I have treated, shared with their kind permission. They are not offered as evidence, and everyone’s experience of homeopathy is different.
Homeopathy has helped me with the ups and downs of the menopause. On an emotional level it has helped me deal with family stress and given me clarity of mind — helping me understand and work with my emotions, which has increased my confidence and sense of well-being. It has freed up my energy and restored a positive outlook on life. I have no hesitation in recommending this time-honoured method of healing.
When life seemed extremely stressful and complicated, the remedies gave me greater confidence and positivity and changed my outlook — making me more relaxed about tackling decisions and moving forward. Homeopathy has given me much more mental clarity and hope for the future, and eased the stress that had been affecting my sleep. We are now much happier and more content, thanks to Helen and homeopathy.
I went to Helen for help with eczema. The consultations are very thorough — not just about the remedies, but the aspects of my lifestyle that might be contributing. The treatment progressed slowly and gently, and she also helped me with dietary and lifestyle changes. My skin has steadily improved and I feel I have more energy and focus.
I first came to Helen suffering from panic attacks and various stress-related symptoms. I was at a crossroads — and there was something in Helen I connected with that has put me on an incredible journey of over ten years. She has always found the right combination of remedies and nutritional support, and helped me find a more spiritual perspective. I can honestly say I am a much happier person, and homeopathy has been like a guiding light to me.
After flu left me with post-viral fatigue — months of tests and no real answers — I didn't know where to turn. I met Helen while she was promoting her practice; friendly and easy-going, she reassured me she could help. After a thorough assessment we started homeopathy, and she helped me with the swollen glands, headaches and fatigue, and to become far more aware of my own body's needs. I now see Helen as a friend and wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anybody.
I first met Helen while studying homeopathy at the North West College in Manchester. I knew from our very first tutorial that she'd be a fantastic supervisor, and I was delighted when she agreed to work with me. Helen is open, honest, fair, compassionate and supportive. She has guided me through life's challenges on every level for nearly a decade and truly opened my eyes to the power of homeopathy. A consultation with Helen always puts me in a positive place. I feel very lucky to have her support.
Helen's guidance was wonderful — it helped me go deeper into my meditation. A lovely morning combining asana, pranayama, om chanting, yoga nidra and meditation, rather than in short separate durations. It's great to be part of such a warm yoga circle.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience — I felt I learned a great deal.
Have you worked with me and would be happy to share a few words? I'd be very grateful — do get in touch.
